Biog:
Paul is the author of a number of critically acclaimed books including The Drowning of the Saints, Goldsmith’s Ghost, 108 Moons, The Orchid Keeper and most recently The Last Falcon and Small Ordinance which Dermot Bolger described as ‘the work of a singular imagination.’ A winner of The Hennessy New Irish Writer of The Year Award, he is a Lecturer in Creative Writing for Kingston University, London and Writer Fellow for University College Dublin. He is the Curator of the dlr Poetry Now International Poetry Festival.
Course Theme:
Make It New. ‘The artist is always beginning,’ Ezra Pound once wrote. ‘Any work of art which is not a beginning, an invention or a discovery is of little worth.’ In this workshop we will discuss the elements of surprise and experiment in poetry and focus on the creation of new work and the revision of work-in-progress through the use of writing exercises and responses to readings.
