Get Writing with Listowel Writers’ Week Literary Competitions

Now that the Christmas festivities are fast fading to memory, we’re sure there’s plenty of you scribbling away or putting the finishing touches to your short stories, poems, plays and essays in time for our competition deadline of 1st March.

Closing Date for Competition Entries 1st March 2014

Listowel Writers’ Week has been encouraging and supporting the emerging writer for over 40 years and in hosting these competitions we’ve seen our winners achieve greater publishing success, and many success stories along the way. So for those of you who haven’t yet made a start, what better time to do it than January – the beginning of a new year. Who knows? Wouldn’t it be exciting to think that 2014 is the year when you will first be published?

Apart from The Kerry Group Irish Novel of the Year Award we also have 12 additional categories of competition, including The Bryan MacMahon Short Story Award, the Eamon Keane Full Length Play Award, Poetry Awards, the Con Houlihan Young Sports Journalist Award and the Kerry County Council Creative Writing Competitions for Youth Awards.
