One of Ireland’s most beloved literary voices, Christine Dwyer Hickey returns to Listowel and will be joined by Booker nominated and prize-winning author Andrew Miller. Together, these two celebrated writers explore themes of memory, love, and human resilience across time..They will be in conversation with poet Enda Wyley.
Christine Dwyer Hickey has published nine novels. The Narrow Land?won the Walter Scott Prize for Historical Fiction, Tatty was nominated for the Orange Prize and named one of the 50 Irish Novels of the Decade, while Last Train from Liguria was shortlisted for the Prix L’Européen de Littérature. Her latest novel, Our London Lives follows the captivating story of two Irish immigrants in England.

Andrew Miller’s latest novel, The Land in Winter, is set during the brutal winter of 1962–63, where two young marriages are tested amid a village slowly unravelling under the weight of isolation, secrets, and emotional strain. The event explores how memory, love, and human resilience endure across time, whether in a speculative future shaped by technology or a vividly rendered past grounded in lived experience.
